In the busy world we live in it can be hard to find a quiet moment, or even a quiet space. I was curious about noise cancellation headphones in a bid to close out additional noise and then I had the opportunity to review the Puro Sound Labs BT2200-Plus headphones and find out for myself.
The company was established as a result of a personal experience within the creator’s family. A loved one was diagnosed with Noise Induced Hearing Loss resulting from excessive volume when listening to music via headphones in their younger years. This prompted them to create a range for both adults and children which are limited to the World Health Organisations recommended audio maximum and which drown out up to 83% additional noise, leaving the listener to enjoy their audio choices in peace.
The headphones arrived in a sturdy box, well packaged and easy to wrap if you’re thinking of gift ideas! Inside the box is a hard shell zip case with the headphones inside along with the quick start instructions, the replacement ear pieces and several cables for charging, jack wiring and daisy chain linking – all C cables. The case is great, a long term protective storage and transport package which will undoubtedly see the Puro headphones last through travel, house moves, holidays and more.
I think they look pretty classy. All black is always going to be a winner but the Puro range is often colourful too, there’s lots to choose from.
I had the perfect test location in mind. The noisiest, busiest and most echoey place I regularly visit, our local sports centre which houses a pool, a gym and a play centre along with a café in which all the parents wait with young siblings. The noise is awful! I like to take an audio book with me whilst I’m waiting but usually I can hear the chair scraping, the nearby devices of others, the background music, random voices and the general echo and hissing of the coffee machine and clattering of plates.
I took the Puro headphones, accessed the quick start guide provided and paired them with my phone in no time at all. The process is painless and quick. A voice let me know we were ready to go. There’s a really simple button over the ear which turns the headphones on or off and lets you know with different colour lights about their status. The LED will shine red when charging and blue when charged. Nice and easy. The button feels sturdy too. I’m confident it will last.
With the earphones on I quickly noticed there was a good quality of audio playback. I’ve used no end of devices paired to my phone and I really notice the quality. The Puro headphones present a good robust sound which sound origin authentic and there’s no hint of metallic reverberation or tinniness.
Handily someone called me whilst listening to my audiobook and I could easily accept the call. There’s a built in option to take a call and I was delighted that with the noise cancellation and the quality of the sound I could hear the caller brilliantly. Though she found it less easy to hear me with the built in microphone, this might well be contributed to by the diabolical environment however.
The earphones are comfortable. The circle of padding for the ear is soft and doesn’t seem to put pressure on the ear in anyplace which might cause discomfort and there’s an alternative size included if you need slightly smaller cups.
The headphones are light and the headband is strong and easily adapted for head size and comfort.
The instructions explain there is 20 hours playback once charged, so that could get you a long way in terms of international travel before they need charging again. There’s also 200 stand by hours. The Bluetooth 5.0 wireless connection is simple and the wireless range is meant to be 30 feet, certainly I didn’t lose any audio walking around in my house later. The dynamic range is 20Hz-20kHz with less than 1% total harmonic distortion. The volume limit is 85 decibels as suggested by the WHO in order to protect human hearing from damage.
The warranty included is for 1 year but I can perfectly imagine that the Puro headphones will outlast the warranty with ease.
I can genuinely recommend Puro headphones as being comfortable, good quality and nice looking. They’re a good weight and the noise cancellation is great.
This would make an excellent gift for Christmas, for a new student needing to tune out background noise, a parent in need of peace, or just because.
