For our weekly board game afternoon this weekend we tried out a new game that had us moving, singing and laughing a lot.

We have been playing Bunny Hops!, a family friendly party game for 4-16 players which is recommended for 10+ years.

Bunny Hops! is a board game from Asmodee. It arrived in a fun, colourful box that is also small and compact. This will be a great one for taking on holidays or when visiting friends and family.

The game box contains 450 theme cards, 50 challenge cards, a small board, 9 tokens and the game rules booklet. The game was easy to get playing with minimal set up required. The cards, board and pieces are high quality and robust made from thick card. I think they will be long lasting even with a lot of game play.

Bunny Hops! is a team guessing game. Draw a card, place it on your forehead and see if you can guess correctly from your team mate’s miming, singing and describing! The game is played in 9 rounds. The team who guesses the most words wins the round and takes a token. The team with the most tokens after the final round is the winner. There are 9 categories that are played in the order of the arrows shown on the board. Players need to see how many cards can be guessed in a one minute time limit. A watch or phone could be used for the timer. However there is also a QR code included leading to a Bunny Hops! app download which we decided to use. As well as a timer it adds other fun sound effects.

3 rounds are BunnyMime – players must use only actions and gestures to describe the actions or items.

3 rounds are BunnyTalk – players must describe the celebrity, place or item which is on the card.

3 rounds are BunnySound – this could be humming a song, finishing the lyrics or making the noise of an item.

By far I think we enjoyed the BunnySound cards the most. A cow noise, an elephant, even Shrek… these were all fairly easy. But when we were trying to mimic Borat, Wicked Witch of the West and a dolphin there were some hilarious attempts and guesses that really had us crying with laughter.

The game is easy and simple to learn, being similar to a game of charades. The game is played in two teams. We played as a group of 4 and split into 2 equal teams with an adult and a child on each side. I think the game would still work well with more players even if the teams don’t divide equally. As it is simple to play it’s going to be a great way to keep the children and adults entertained especially over the school holidays. We can take it with us when visiting family and also get it out at home when my kids have their friends round.

We had so much fun playing Bunny Hops!. It’s a game the adults and children both enjoyed. There were a few cards that the kids weren’t so sure about as they had not heard of the people or items before but you are able to skip and choose a new card.

Overall a very entertaining game for everyone.
