As a seasoned professional in the baby wipe field (mum of 2 young children, including an 11 month old baby) I was excited to try a different brand of baby wipes. Particularly a brand which prides themselves on providing convenience and care, whilst actively reducing the impact on the environment, which is such an important issue in the current climate. I received a variety of different Aqua Wipes products to try, including original, travel, Essentials and Premium 3-in-1 and couldn’t wait to get going.
One of my main bug bears when using baby wipes, is when you’re dealing with a ‘major incident’ and attempting to hold 2 feet in the air for damage limitation, whilst dealing with a very wriggly body, with one hand and at the same time trying to pull the wipes out individually with the other hand, only for a clump of them to come out of the pack at the same time. I was so pleased that as soon as I opened the Originals pack and pulled a wipe out, only 1 wipe came out. This was a very good start indeed!
Another common issue I usually have with baby wipes, is the plastic resealable tab, to keep the wipes moist, frequently gets ripped from the packaging, by my over-zealous baby and I end up having to keep re-sticking it on the pack. The one on these packs seems so much more robust and so far (touch wood) hasn’t been ripped off.
As the products have all been dermatologically tested, they are suitable to use from birth, and there is no upper age limit (I’ve always found wipes are useful for a variety of tasks, so even prior to having children, I always had a pack to hand).
I really liked the feel of the wipes, they just seemed much cleaner, stronger and more robust than my usual brand. I noticed a difference with how moist they felt and because of this, I was able to clean my baby’s bottom with much fewer wipes than is usual too. Again, makes much more sense. They were really good at cleaning up sticky fingers and messy mouths, as my daughter is just getting to grips with her food and likes to roll her food down her face, until she finds her mouth!
The travel size pack has been zipped into my changing bag, for those (frequent) occasions I forget to put the main pack in the bag!
Aqua Wipes range:
The Aqua Wipes Essentials range are biodegradable, plastic-free, natural, eco-friendly, vegan and compostable. They contain 99.3% purified water and a mild coconut-derived cleansing agent for baby’s sensitive skin. The pack size is 56 wipes and they retail at £2.20 per pack, but are available in a variety of bundle sizes.
The Aqua Wipes Originals range have the same qualities as the Essentials range, with the addition of organic Aloe Vera suitable for soothing newborn sensitive skin. The pack size is 64 wipes and retail at £2.90 per pack and again, are available in different bundle sizes, including travel size (12 wipes).
The Aqua Wipes Premiums 3-in-1 range not only clean and soothe, but contain barrier protection technology to help prevent nappy rash. The unique formula contains 3% Dimethicone with Aloe Vera for moisturising, Camomile for soothing and Witch Hazel for calming. The pack size is 48 wipes and retails at £3.50 per pack and comes in different bundle sizes.
Aqua Wipes also produce other products with the same environmental ethos, including Antibacterial Surface Wipes and Gentle Eyelid Wipes
All of the products are packaged in recyclable material, which is another added bonus.
The packaging states that for each pack sold, a 5p donation per full pack is made to Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), which is such a worthy cause and lovely to feel that you’re contributing to other children’s health.
Although the wipes are more pricey than my usual brand, I would definitely switch to these on the basis of the use of purified water, environmental benefits and also their support of GOSH. I would also recommend them to my friends and family too.
