The Yoomi bottle contains a unique warmer that is activated by pressing the orange button. This triggers the internal solution to warm the unit in just 60 seconds. The cold feed is gently warmed as it flows through the specially designed channels on the outside of the warmer. By the time the feed reaches the teat, it is at natural breast milk temperature (32-34 deg C). The warmer has been designed to stay warm for up to one hour.
The idea of a self-warming bottle instantly got my attention and almost sounded too good to be true. Having staggered around the kitchen in the dead of night trying to warm milk to the right temperature, having a bottle that warms milk to the right temperature has proved very helpful.
The warmer needs to be charged before each use by boiling for 25 minutes, this is a bit time consuming and means you have to be fairly organized. I also wonder how environmentally friendly it is as the warmer has a finite life of 100 charges. I have found the Yoomi bottle very useful for night-time feeds and the occasional outing. My 4 month old daughter, who is mostly breast fed, seemed to take to the shape of the bottle very well – indeed better than some of the other well known brands.
The packaging and design of the bottle is attractive and contemporary. The bottle is quite heavy with the warmer inside and although this actually doesn’t make a difference when using it, it will add to your already heavy baby bag.
Apart from the need to be organised, my only concern is that it is quite pricey and to be truly useful when you are constantly on the go, it would be good to have at least 2 or 3 ready to use.
Overall, if money were no object I would buy lots of these and use them every day!
