The JETKIDS BY STOKKE CLOUDSLEEPER is the perfect companion when travelling with children. The product itself arrived in its own packing cube with a double layered zipper which enables it to be compressed to a small size. It is obviously designed to be easily carried in a case or bag with dimensions of only 38 x 28 x 10 cm when packed and fully compressed however can also be carried by its integrated fabric handle. Alternatively, it can be carried by your young one if you also own Stokke’s premier travel case, JETKIDS BY STOKE BedBox, as its dimensions fit perfectly within this product for ease.
The travel bed itself has an integrated pump and as such does not rely on you remembering to pack additional pieces of kit such as a foot pump and can be inflated out of the box. The pump itself is contained within the product which is innovative and avoids the need for trailing tubes and the risk of losing small parts. Inflation is easy once you know how and with some practice you can inflate with the integrated hand or foot pump in a couple of minutes.
Once inflated the bed measures 150 x 75 x 17cm and so from my research I would expect it to accommodate a young child comfortably up to the age of about 10. Stokke state the weight limit is up to 68 kg so its use is likely to be limited by the height of the child rather than their weight. The safety warnings state this should not be used by children less than 3 due to a risk of suffocation and so this is important to bear in mind if thinking it would be appropriate for a toddler who has just transitioned from a cot to a bed. The products generous size however means it has a good shelf life and providing it stands up to usual ‘wear and tear’ I would hope it can be used for many years of travel trips and family holidays.
As you would expect from Stokke it certainly is a premium product and feels sturdy yet comfortable. When tested it remained inflated for the whole night and my child managed to have a good nights sleep. The bed itself has a breathable cover which is soft and has what is described as an air mesh, which I presume is designed to stop that sticky feeling when you sleep on a more traditional air bed. It has not been used enough yet to see how it withstands regular use however the cover is machine washable. I would recommend an additional fitted cotton cot sheet – not only to provide an additional protective layer but also make it into more of a bed and it is a shame that for the price this is not included however this can always be purchased separately elsewhere if you wish given the fairly standard dimensions.
I would agree with Stokke’s claim that it is ‘The Travel Bed MADE for Travel’ as it is easy to transport, easy to use and will make travel trips easier for parents when away from home. The side bumpers mean you don’t need to worry about your wriggly young one rolling off onto the floor and it can be placed in any room to provide additional sleeping space. It provides an easy bed whether visiting or hosting friends or relatives, staying in a hotel room or even when camping.
The product is available in white only and is part of the wider JET KIDS BY STOKKE range which includes the BedBox (available to buy at link https://www.stokke.com/GBR/en-gb/travel/jetkids/5345.html RRP £149) and Crew BackPack. Rating: 4/5
RRP: £89
The CLOUDSLEEPER is available to purchase from https://www.stokke.com/GBR/en-gb/travel/jetkids/5846.html. It is a high-cost item but certainly meets the demands of a premium brand, albeit for the price could have included some added extras, and I would therefore give this a rating of 4 out of 5.
