I have no shame in admitting that I have a terrible sweet tooth. I try to eat healthily all week and then indulge on a Saturday evening. My go to treat always tends to be chocolate. There’s something about the smooth, creamy texture that I just love and letting it melt in my mouth. I like to mix it up by trying out different bars. So I was of course very happy to receive Montezuma’s Like No Udder bars to try. A review I was definitely very happy to help out with! I received four chocolate bars to try in two different flavours. I was very kind and did share half with my son too!

Montezuma’s produces a wide range of milk and dark chocolate products including bars, boxes and gift sets, some of which I’ve previously tried and enjoyed. As well as those they have quite an extensive vegan range. The Like No Udder bars are part of the vegan range as the play on words name suggests. I think it’s wonderful how so many more companies now create vegan alternatives and also have a large range so people following a vegan diet have plenty of choice. My son started a vegan diet a year ago. We’ve found the swap fairly easy but he often does miss chocolate. I’ve also been trying to follow his same diet to support him. So I was excited to try Montezuma’s vegan offerings as I’ve previously loved their chocolate bars.

The two flavours I was sent are Butterscotch and Peppermint and Cocoa Nibs but they also come in other varieties too. The bars are packaged in cardboard boxes and inside rather than any plastic the chocolate is wrapped in 100% recyclable packaging. I love how environmentally conscious this brand is. The bars themselves are made up of four strips of six blocks. We tried the peppermint first as it’s my son’s favourite. It had a lovely taste with the right balance of mint to the sweet cocoa taste. Next we went for the butterscotch and this turned out to be by far my favourite. It had a rich and very sweet flavour. It really felt like an indulgent treat.

I know many people who usually eat milk chocolate are dubious about trying a vegan alternative as they don’t think the taste will be the same, but I can tell you these bars are delicious. The flavours chosen are lovely and if I hadn’t been told I probably wouldn’t have known they are vegan. As someone who has eaten a lot of chocolate I would say they have a very similar taste and are still ‘milky’ and creamy on your tongue. They were certainly a hit with my son!
I think the Montezuma’s Like No Udder bars would make for a fantastic gift for anyone for any occasion. Or even just because, to show your love or make someone smile. At only £2.99 a bar they are a perfect little present to treat someone with. Plus being vegan and fully recyclable you know you’re also buying environmentally friendly.
