Redcandy Cassette Tape Doormat Review

I received this very distinctive Cassette Tape Doormat from Redcandy. It arrived quickly and even came with a small pack of Love Heart sweets which I thought was a lovely touch and really in keeping with the quirky theme.

I was impressed with the mat straight away. The cassette is quirky but not too in your face and looks great with its retro colour stripes. I think it would go fantastically in most houses.

The mat also seems of good quality. The pile is short and tough so I think it will be extremely hard wearing and great for really getting the dirt from your shoes. It is made from 100% coconut fibre. The backing is made from non-slip PVC so doesn’t move about as you wipe your feet. It measures 70cm wide by 40cm and is 1.5cm in depth so of average size it should fit perfectly at any door.

My current mats have been washable which have been great to just throw in the machine when they get dirty. But unfortunately, I don’t think this mat will be so I’m not sure how I will keep it looking in such good condition during the winter months. Especially as part of the cassette is a light colour. Hopefully it is hard wearing enough to keep itself looking great. I does seem however to hoover ok, but I did give it a shake out against the wall first as it holds the dirt really well which for a mat I guess is a good feature.

It is also for inside use only which is a little disappointing as not only would it look great outside your door, but I also think it would be a great mat for getting the worst off your shoes before entering the house. Given the option then to have a more light weight mat inside which could be easily machine washed. However, given the toughness of the mat I would be tempted to see how it survived outside as I suspect it might be fine.

The mat can be purchased directly from Redcandy here for £24.50 plus £3.95 delivery charge which I think is a very reasonable price. You really get value for money with this mat. Its not widely sold elsewhere but there are alternatives available for a similar price which in my opinion are not as nice. This mat is simple but looks effective. It has a real retro look which I think would look great in most houses.

I would recommend the mat to family and friends; in fact, a few have already commented on it. The only negatives for me are that you don’t have the option to use it outdoors and that it isn’t machine washable. However, that is purely because of the tough hard wearing material it’s made from so perhaps not a negative depending on what you are looking for.

So overall I think this is a fantastic addition to my house and would give it 4 out of 5 stars.
