It’s such a treat to receive a review just for me, and this one is perfectly timed as my 41 year old Mum-face needs some assistance. I love to try new beauty products as I am always striving for improvement, particularly with my wrinkles and the unwanted shine I that have on my face.
I have been sent the 50ml bottle of Flawless Photo Glow SPF30 by Transformulas, and this product makes a lot of exciting promises. It was shortlisted for the Asos 2020 Beauty Awards, it won the 2021 Asia pacific Travel Retail Awards and it has a plethora of anti-ageing ingredients. It claims to protect, moisturise, rejuventate and restore skins natural radiance.
Transformulas is a British Cosmeceutical brand which specialises in anti ageing and skin care products, and crucially it does not test on animals. It is not a company that I have heard of before, but the website is stunning and easy to navigate and the reviews that I have read on various products in their range seem really positive.
The product arrived wrapped in tissue, within a neutral toned box. The bottle itself is a pearlscent peach with a shiny gold cap and writing; it is so luxurious, although I am a sucker for pretty packaging. The product is dispensed using a gentle pump-action, which is much more hygienic than a pot and in theory there should be less waste.
The product is white and has a subtle fragrance. It is designed to be used as a day cream, and glides onto your face smooth and silky, soaking in suprisingly quickly to get to work. I was surprised how lightweight this moisturier is given that is has an SPF30. Previously I have purchased a high end product with this feature and felt that is was slightly sticky and heavier than the equivalent day cream without the SPF, but the Flawless Photogrow soaked in without any “stick” or weight and surpassed my expectations. This makes me so happy as my less than youthful skin really needs protection from the sun this summer.
I didn’t feel the need to use a primer with this moisturiser as it provides a good enough base for foundation, and my skin feels soft, hydrated and supple.
It is very calming to my skin as I can be prone to the odd spot breakout; it certainly didn’t cause any skin aggreviation or reaction.
Another positive for me was the matte effect of the cream, and it’s made me very aware that the cause of my shiny face has to be my previous moisturiser rather than the foundation that I have been blaming. The tone of my skin has improved without doubt and I do believe I have a noticable glow! I always assumed that “glow” products meant a shiny face or shimmer as a draw-back so I am delighted to have radiant skin on the days that I do decide to go foundation free. I can imagine this being a real hero when I eventually have a make-up free pool holiday abroad again.
The matte effect, radiance and calming nature of this product did make me think about teenage skin and, whilst my skin is far from youthful, the features would seem appropriate for this target group as well as adults.
I find it really difficult to comment on whether my wrinkles feel smoother after such a short trial period, but I can say with certainty that my skin looks better and so far it is doing what I need it to do. I have spent so much money on different skincare ranges over the years but this review has given me confidence to buy more products in the range (I am particularly intrigued by the lip plumper).
The price for 50ml is £35, which is on the expensive side for a moisturiser (editor’s note – at the time of writing the review. At the time of putting the review online the RRP is now £55.00) but typical for a high end product. I do feel that this price is justified by the benefits, and you do get a decent amount of moisturiser for your money.Other products in this range include skin, lip and eye products, and delivery is free over £35. I would also keep an eye out for special offers!
I would award this the Flawless Photoglow SPF30 5 stars out of 5.
