My little boy absolutely loves Ricky Zoom – if you’ve never seen it before, it’s a cute little cartoon series on Nick Jr where Ricky, a sometime over confident but very enthusiastic red motorbike, and his bike buddies; Loop, Scootio and DJ go on adventures, solve problems and generally have fun! They love to race around trying out stunts and tricks at the Adventure Park and around Wheelford but often get themselves into all sorts of trouble even when they are trying to help! The show is based in Wheelford, a town made for a two wheeled community with stories about problem solving and friendship.

My little boy thinks the series is very funny and it’s a joy to hear him laugh out loud when watching it, so to have a range of toys to create his own adventures is like a dream come true for him – and this Ricky Zoom toy is a big hit!

It is solid and robust enough for little, not so delicate hands to play with – so solid that in fact it can stand up without toppling over when not moving. We found this great as when my son was arranging his other toys to be rescued, Ricky was in place ready for action. Not only are the front tyres wide for standing, the front tyre also turns when the handle bars are moved to he can be steered left or right! It’s robust enough to survive the ramps my son set up to play on one of his adventures – a recommendation in itself!

The toy has a selection of 8 different classic Ricky sounds and phrases activated when the petrol cap at the top of the bike is pressed, including “Ricky to the rescue” and a phrase I hear daily from my son “zoom-tastic”. One of the sounds is a fast racing motorbike – as we know Ricky likes to go fast wherever he goes.  At the same time as a sounds is played, a bright blue light at the top of Ricky’s visor also flashes, just like when Ricky needs to go on a rescue in the TV series.

The toy is a good size; about 180mm wide and 160mm high. It is presented well in bright yellow packaging and secured with minimal ties (as a parent don’t you just hate trying to get a toy out with 10s of ties when your child is standing next to you eagerly waiting to play)!

Any child age 3+ would be delighted to receive this toy – even if they didn’t follow the programme. A huge thumbs up from this household.

Ricky Zoom Lights and Sounds Ricky is available to purchase from most major retailers – but be quick, I think it’s going to be on a lot of this years lists to Santa!
