Milkshake! Live The Magic Story Book Tour at the Parr Hall Warrington Review

I took my 3 year old daughter to watch the Milkshake! Tour at Parr Hall in Warrington. It’s a great central venue in Warrington with easy access and parking close by (pay & display). Upon our arrival we were greeted by friendly staff and seated just 5 rows from the front. I was a little concerned about my daughter being able to see from her short perspective, but it wasn’t a problem. The stage was set up with giant colourful story books and was easily visible for her.
True to Milkshakes unfailing energetic style the show began with lots of music and dancing and my daughter eyes got wider as she spotted ‘the people from the tele’ and Milkshake Monkey. Our hosts today were Olivia and Derek, (I believe they can change between shows) with fairy Godmother appearances from Kemi on screen throughout the show.
It transpired that Milkshake Monkey wanted to become a fairytale prince and so the lovely Fairy Godmother granted him that wish but he first had to travel through some fairy tales to find which prince he would like to become. We followed him as he stepped into tales such as Hansel and Gretel, Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk and the Three Little Pigs. However, with each new tale came a new adventure and problems to overcome, to help along the way some of the best loved Milkshake characters joined us to help save the day. Visits from amongst others, Fireman Sam, Winnie the Witch, Noddy, Bob the Builder and (my daughters favourite) Shimmer and Shine had all the children in the audience delighted; clapping and dancing along to the music. They were eager to join the fun and help each character in their mission to help.
The atmosphere in the theatre was just as energised as the presenters and the storyline. It was magical seeing so many young faces light up. The show ended with a confetti canon which went off with a real bang. For a millisecond I feared this would have scared a lot of the children but their shock was quickly replaced with sheer joy at watching the golden confetti dance and hover above their heads and then slowly fall towards them. It was a wonderful way to end the show and my daughters’ words as soon as it was finished; ‘can we come here again?’ left me in no doubt that she loved every minute!
The show lasted approximated 1.5 hours with a 20 minute intermission which was just right for keeping the children’s attention. Ticket prices were around £14.50 with concession for children and families. I think this is a great price for the level of entertainment. You get a lot of storyline and characters for the price and your child will not be disappointed. I give the event 5/5 and recommend it as a must-do for families with young children.
Rating: 5/5
