I went along to see Comedy Club 4 Kids with my 10-year-old son Frazer. Frazer is always coming up with jokes and loves to read joke books and giggle at comedians, so he was very excited to go to see some comedians in ‘real life’ today!
We arrived at the car park of The Lowry and found a space quickly, then we made our way to the The Quays Theatre, where the show would commence. The theatre was clean and interesting, and the staff were amazingly polite and helpful at every stage. I did not have to ask anyone where we needed to be as there was always a member of staff guiding us.
We were seated on row G in the stalls and had a great view of the stage. The theatre itself was light, airy, clean and comfortable. The show started on time (important when you have a child chomping at the bit!).
The show began with a female compere, warning up the audience. The lady (unsure of her name) wore a sparkly outfit and got all the kids and adults giggling. She was interactive and encouraged audience participation. The compere was on the stage around 20 minutes before introducing the 2 comedian acts.
The two comedian acts were hilarious. The tone was toilet humour and silliness and my son and I giggled so much I was crying! The comedians tapped right in to what kids find funny and did an amazing job! The comedians separately called on the audience to participate which added to the hilarity.
The show lasts an hour, but I think another act would of been better, as most children were left wanting more as it was so funny!
Overall, I think this show would suit children from aged 6-12 years old and will certainly be recommending this to friends and family.
