Hippychick Classic World Crocodile Balancing Game Review

Reviewed by Trish Bramhall
I was a little excited when the postman delivered a small parcel containing the Classic World Crocodile Balancing Game from Hippychick. And I couldn’t wait for the grandchildren aged 5 years and 3 years to visit and see what they thought about it.
In the box is a very colourful selection of 18-cylinder shapes in 6 different colours and 3 different sizes. A shaped crocodile and a dice, all made of natural wood. You also get simple instructions in 7 different languages.

We sat down together and the first thing the children said was “wow, look at all them colours!” And we started taking it in turns to roll the dice and whichever colour it lands on you then chose one of the cylinders in that colour to balance on the crocodile’s tummy. The game continues and if you roll the dice and there is none of that colour left of the cylinders you have to miss a turn.
Little hands learn to take it in turn’s and take their time, and concentrate when balancing, so hopefully not knocking any off, because if you do knock them off you are out of the game! The last one to get all cylinders on is the winner (although we weren’t bothered about being the winner, it’s all about having fun together).
The grandchildren also had a go at playing the game together, and also just on their own as this game can either be played on your own or with up to four people.
Another thing my grandchildren found fun doing with the colourful cylinders was balancing them on top of each other to see who could make the tallest tower, obviously realising it’s best to put the large ones at the bottom first.

We loved the small box it arrived in and the children placed it all back into it when they had finished, so that they knew all the parts were there ready for next time they wanted to play it! It’s an excellent teaching game as it helps to teach youngsters about taking it in turns, remembering colour’s and steady balancing.
What a fabulous Christmas gift this would be, that will give hours of fun and last a very long time.
Definitely not suitable for under 3s due to the small parts.
