In the words of Mister Maker himself whether you are 1, 41 or 101, get ready to have some fun!
To this show I had brought along my four year old son who is a big fan of the television show, but as a sceptical adult I was unsure how a short television programme would transfer to a two hour stage production. Luckily throughout my doubts proved unfounded and what we both watched in the following couple of hours was a fun, audience involving show.
Jenny and her gang (Mister Maker’s helpers) bounded on stage with a song to start to the show and they soon introduced us to Mister Maker to the excitement of all the children present.
During the first half what followed was a mix of familiar songs with amended lyrics to fit the occasion – “Hokey Cokey” using scissors, glue etc, “Mister Maker Had A Farm” featuring members of the audience upon the stage, interspersed with a few Minute Makes.
Carrying into the second half in similar fashion, we were also introduced to The Shapes. The Shapes managed to gather even more excitement from the young audience than Mister Maker’s arrival, and what followed was a humorous exchange between them and Mister Maker. The second half followed in a similar fashion to the first with more Minute Makes plus more songs with the audience encouraged to yet again participate. This half we were treated to Mister Maker’s version of “If Your Happy and You Know It”, Mister Maker In The House Tonight” plus more – all fabulous fun and enjoyed by all, especially the young intended audience.
Perhaps the greatest praise and the best review this show could possibly get comes from my four year old himself. Just as the show came to an end he asked me if we could please come and watch the show again!
