Who doesn’t like a bit of ABBA? Myself and my friend were super excited to find out we were going to watch Abba Mania at the Buxton Opera House.
We arrived in Buxton just after 7 pm, and found a parking space just around the corner from the Opera House. Where we parked it was free after 6pm as are most car parks around the Opera House.
We walked the short distance to the Opera House and went straight to the ticket desk to collect our tickets. The gentleman at the desk was very helpful and promptly found us our tickets. As we still had a bit of time before the show was to begin, we decided to go up the stairs to the bar for a drink. We both had a small glass of wine and a packet of crisps to share and it came to a total of £7.80 which I think was quite a good price for a theatre,
After our drinks we made our way back downstairs to the dress circles where our seats were located. We were seated in row D in seats 8 and 9. We had a perfect view of the stage, which was set out with a white upright piano, drums, microphones and guitar areas.
The show started promptly at 7.30pm, with Abba Mania kicking the show off with Mamma Mia, they then went on to perform, Chiquitita, Money Money Money, Lay All Your Love On Me, plus many many more. The performers were absolutely brilliant both looking and sounding like Abba!
The first half ended at approximately 8.30pm. During the interval we decided to treat ourselves to an ice cream. We both chose to have a tub, these were delicious and very creamy. At a price of £2.50 each these are great value for money.
The second half started at about 8.50pm, they came on in some stunning costumes, and the party started again. During the second half they had everyone on their feet and dancing along! They encouraged everyone to join in and they were really engaging with the audience. They even took the time to read out birthday announcements and dedicate songs to them!
We spent the majority of the second half stood up dancing, swaying and clapping to the music.
The show ended with an Abba melody with a selection of the songs that they had previously performed, by this time the whole theatre was buzzing and stood up and joining in with the songs.
The whole show was fantastic and very entertaining! I would love to go and watch this again and will be recommending it to family and friends. I give the Buxton Opera House and Abba Mania 5 out of 5!
