I was so pleased to be chosen to review Big Girls Don’t Cry, the International tribute to Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, by The East Coast Boys from New Jersey, USA at the Grove Theatre in Dunstable.
We arrived at the car park which has lots of free parking. After a short walk we entered the light and airy theatre foyer which was buzzing with lots of people all waiting excitedly for the show. We collected our tickets from a very friendly and helpful young man on reception. We made our way into the busy auditorium and we’re shown to our seats, which gave us a fantastic view of the stage.
At 8pm the curtain rose to rapturous applause as The East Coast Boys appeared on the stage. Not only were they all very handsome, all 4 of them had amazing voices. They sang The Four Seasons big hits from the 60’s, Big Girls Don’t Cry, Silence is Golden and Working My Way back To You to name but a few, with a different routine for each one, so they kept your attention all the time. They made one lucky ladies’ night by bringing her on to the stage to be serenaded for her birthday. She loved every minute. The interaction and banter with the audience had everyone laughing and having fun. The curtain came down on the first half of the show.
After a short break the East Coast Boys returned to the stage with as much charm and razzamatazz as the first half. They sang songs recorded by Frank Sinatra, Carole King and the Beatles, to name but a few. The audience went wild when they changed into their leather jackets and sang Grease. One of their final tracks was Bye Bye Baby, which was made famous by the Bay City Rollers, which got everybody up on their feet and dancing in the aisles. After a melody of lots of hits it was time for the curtain to go down and after a standing ovation ended the show.
It was a fabulous evening and I would rate it 5 stars and recommend everybody to go if they get the chance.
