Comedy and magic have long had a comfortable relationship with one another, with magicians such as Pen and Teller, John Archer and even in his stage shows Derren Brown using this strong bond between the two art forms to its full. To say Pete Firman is a master of both is no understatement. The beautiful gatehouse Theatre in Stafford allowed for an intimate and close gig, which certainly lends itself to the closely watched sleight of hand magic Pete is so articulate with. In all honesty the magic was nothing new, but it’s almost as if the old adages “the old ones are the best” and “if it isn’t broke don’t fix it” have never been truer as Pete astonished with his magic. Now I’m not an easy man to make laugh. Grumpy I think my wife calls it. However Pete’s witty, off the cuff, quick humour had me uncontrollably laughing and chuckling all the way home. All in All great night of entertainment, if you can get to see Pete, Do it, you will not be Disappointed. 4 Stars!

I had never heard of Pete Firman before but was wowed by his opening video which included his good friend Derren brown, well if it's good enough for Derren, its good enough for me. From that moment on I was in awe not just by his magic which was good but not the star of the show, the best bit for me was how funny Pete was, there was not a moment where I was not heartily laughing. The magic for me was just an added extra as was the stand-up comic who had a small slot in the middle of the performance, but was still good and at times I was sure I had the trick sussed but out of the blue he surprised me, obviously I don't want to give it away as I think you should all go and see for yourself. £13 is a great price as I can honestly say I've not laughed that much in ages. 4/5 from me and a must see.
