B Kids Watch Over Me Dream Station Review
Watch Over Me Dream Station

I recently received the Watch Over Me Dream Station from B Kids – a 5 phase smart sleeping program for babies.
Nicely packaged – with good pictures showing the product. Easy to set up – take out of box, fit batteries and then fit to the side of the cot or it can stand on a hard surface. I did think that the Dream Station looked a bit strange as it has three paddles on the top that move with plastic moons /stars which hang off. But the paddles look good when the lights are projected on them and the baby's like them – which is what it is all about!
This is another great quality product from B Kids. A fabulous idea – this attaches to the side of your babies cot and it has five pre-programmed phases with lights movements and sounds. The first stage plays music your baby ready to go to sleep, there is a good choice of different music to choose from, the paddles move and lights are projected. My babies (I have twins!) were both really engaged with this and love the music and lights. I quite liked the choice too – as I don’t like hearing the same thing over and over! This is the clever bit – the Dream Station has an inbuilt sensor which can tell when your baby's movement has slowed down and when it senses that there is less movement it changes onto the next phase. The music gets calmer, as do the lights this is to encourage your baby to go to sleep. The sensor detects when your baby has gone to sleep when there is no movement or noise, the phase changes and plays white noise along with mood lighting. The monitor then goes all quiet unless your baby wakes, at which point it detects this and mood lighting is projected to sooth your baby. You are able to preset the length of time that you want your baby to sleep for, the settings are 4/6/8 hours. Once the length of time has elapsed the Dream Station will play music and lights to encourage your baby to wake up.
I was very sceptical about this monitor and was not sure that it could sooth babies in the way that it claimed on the box. However I have to say after a few nights of using it – my babies both seemed to recognise the music and were noticeably calmer going off to bed. My twins are far from good sleepers – particularly one of them and whilst it did not stop her from waking in the night – it did mean that it was not an instant scream from her. I do think that the Dream Station has helped our bedtime routine and made it a bit calmer!
The only thing I have thought – is that it is quite large and would not be so easy to take away with you, which is a shame. It’s always handy to have something that can be used on your travels too.
It is quite expensive with a RRP of £60 but as a sleep deprived mother – I would pay a lot for a little more sleep. The technology is really clever being able to monitor your babies sound and movements. I am hoping with more use we will be able to get into a much better sleeping routine – keeping my finger crossed anyway!
