Richard O’Brien’s Rocky Horror Show hits Edinburgh this week on a tour celebrating 40 years of the cult classic. The adult theme was evident even before entering the theatre, with the intriguing attire of the many faithful followers.
The show opens in the cinema before the ‘film’ starts… the innocent Brad (Sam Attwater) and Janet’s (Roxanne Pallett) car breaks down in the middle of storm and they predictably go seeking help to the castle, little did they know what was in store for them during their encounter with cross-dressing Frank (Oliver Thornton) and muscleman Rocky (Rhydian)!
Philip Frank as the Narrator holds the show together, responding to audience heckles with good humour.
As a Rocky Horror Show ‘virgin’ you can’t help but be swept along by the onstage shenanigans and lose yourself as you dance along to the Time Warp.
A great show and a great atmosphere within the theatre. Worth seeing.
