Jack Taylor Collection One is collection of 3 TV dramas based on the books by Ken Bruen. I was delighted to receive the first episode, The Guards, to review.

Jack Taylor (Iain Glen) is an Irish stubborn ex-cop in Galway, Ireland. When bodies of teenage girls start piling up in the river and The Guards class them as suicides he is hired as a private investigator to find a missing girl.

Everything is not as it seems and soon the case of a missing kill gets very dangerous and the ex-Garda, with the help of his artist friend Sutton (Ralph Brown), is now on the hunt for paedophile.

Overall, I found Jack Taylor: The Guards to be a highly entertaining and gritty crime drama. Jack Taylor, while a hard drinking, old school ex-policeman has a heart of gold and goes the extra mile to solve his cases. Very well-acted with a great story and now have to see the other episodes in this collection.

Rating: 4/5

Jack Taylor Collection One is available to buy on DVD from Acorn Media here.
