Grill on the Market Review
Grill on the Market
Smithfield, London

What a gastro of delights I just wished my tummy was bigger so I could have eaten more.
A fantastic menu with what you would expect from being set in London’s Smithfield. A menu not only filled with prime cuts of meat but a vary of seafood dishes to accompany or as a main dish.
The starters were exceptional, again a wide variation of meats, poultry and seafood dishes it really was a hard choice to make. We were brought some fresh artisan bread with olive oil and balsamic dipping sauce and fresh whole olives. Unfortunately I took the wrong person to eat with he didn’t want to share and we missed out on the share plates. I did however choose for my starter the fried calamari with a lemon mayonnaise which was delicious. He had the Thai crab cakes which looked delicious.
We were well looked after and was given a delightful crisp white pinot grigio which was reasonably priced. For mains I ordered the rib eye steak if I was more comfortable in my company I would have ordered a side of seafood which ranged scallops, prawns and lobster all of which I adore but instead I kept it simple with hand cut chips and a peppercorn sauce. It was cooked to perfection and I enjoyed every mouthful.
Conversation was dry but my mouth wasn’t and I ordered dessert a sumptuous crème brulee with a cashew tuile and raspberry compote which was to die for every mouthful was a delight and I was disappointed when I had eaten my last mouthful I could have eaten three or four more.
I would highly recommend the Grill on the Market and will most definitely be going back sometime soon and will enjoy the most of their menu again.
