There is nothing better than being asked to review some wine, this would be an easy task to accomplish. The wine arrived in a sturdy cardboard box marked fragile and contained in a polystyrene holder ensuring safety.

I was trying the Kumala Shiraz Pinotage Rose from the Western Cape in South Africa. After leaving the wine to chill I found a nice easy screw cap to open the wine. The Shiraz is packaged attractively with a two tone grey label with gold writing. The label also has the Kumala signature gecko proudly embossed on the front.

The rose had a subtle scent to it, as sometimes I find rose wine can be a little overpowering for me. The first thing you notice upon drinking the wine was the strawberry flavour, this you can recognise before even reading the label of the wine. It really is evident on your first taste. It is suggested that this wine is a grade 6 on the scale of sweet to dry and the wine is true to its word and does fall in the middle, which is just right for me as I do not like it too sweet or too dry.

This really is a nice wine and has changed my view on drinking rose. I will definitely consider purchasing this wine again. It would complement any chicken dish and it would really be worth considering in the summer with its strawberry flavour, maybe even as a chilled drink to toast Wimbledon!
