London’s Soho, 1956. Here, glamour rubs up against filth, and it likes it! The posh mix with musicians, whores and racketeers; virginity is ‘no city trade’, and the dashingly cash-strapped bachelor, Richard Follywit, in pursuit of quick cash and a good time has to live on his wits…
Love, love, love it!
I have never loved a play more than this, the cast were an absolute delight with the crowd, so interactive and you could tell they were enjoying themselves which is an amazing plus.
At one point I had a waiter come check my purse for the stolen jewels!
My husband was a little unsure if he would enjoy the play but was soon won over and loved seeing all the ladies in their outfits, I must say it seemed most of the crowd did as well!

The club singer was in stitches above the set, it all felt so real, honest and raw, the best play I have been part of, and you actually felt part of it, in a long time.
I am not normally one for boyish humour and tend to find it childish but A Mad World My Masters is so much more than just laddish filth, it is witty and charming, so well thought out and executed. It reminded me of the Carry On films which I love!
All of the cast were outstanding, I did truly adore the singer Linda John-Pieree whom had an amazing voice but was just in stitches alongside us for the whole play, and Joe Bannister as the lead role, something I don’t generally like was witty and charming, at points reminded me somewhat of David Walliams.
I loved the scene were Dick and his trusted sidekicks put on a Newcastle accent, being from Newcastle I was in complete stitches!

There is so much going on in this play at one time, you have the “devoted” wife of Mr Littledick having it away with the local vicar alongside the local whore acting as a virgin!
You are never dulled for one moment in this wonderful play.
You must see this play and you must do it now!
Tickets cost from £11.90 to £32.40 (plus £2.85 transaction fee).
