From the moment the show opened and a video message was played of Mick Fleetwood endorsing the band I knew we were going to witness something special, after all if the man himself is praising them they have to be mega brilliant right?
Rumours of Fleetwood Mac are an outstanding tribute band. They capture the spirit of the music and seem to really enjoy what they are doing. The first half sees some of their more well-known songs performed including “Dreams” and “Little Lies” Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie are portrayed superbly they look and sound just like them, Nicks character especially. All the musicians are very talented and gel well. If you closed your eyes you could be listening to Fleetwood Mac themselves they are that good. The solo performance of “Song Bird” and “landslide” had the audience listening intently and you could have heard a pin drop.
The second half kicks off with some of the earlier blues material from the Peter Green era (they formed back in 1967) myself and partner particularly enjoyed this part of the show, the guitar jamming was second to none and to get to hear Albatross played live was something special. some of their other well-known early work ” Man Of The World” and “Black Magic Woman” were also given the Rumours touch – fantastic! The girls then joined the band back on the stage and continued to entertain us with tracks from the 1977 Rumours Album amongst others big hits including “Go your Own Way”.
By now the place was rocking and the atmosphere electric everybody was up out of their seats and really enjoying themselves. I am a massive fan of “Tusk” so was mega excited when they when the opening bars began to play you couldn’t of kept me in my seat for love or money by this stage of the evening.
Lighting and costume are good Louise Rogan (Stevie Nicks) looks the part of the hippie chick. The stage is used well and each of the musicians get there time in the limelight to show just how talented they are individually. There is a screen elevated at the back of the stage which shows album covers, the band themselves and points in history applicable to what songs are being performed.
I can’t fault anything about the show. They give 100% throughout and I had a really good night.
I will definitely be watching out for Rumours of Fleetwood Mac touring this way again and telling my family and friends they really DO NEED to go!
