The Legend Continues Review
The Legend Continues
A Michael Jackson Tribute
Reviewed by Shelly Harper
On Friday 14th September I went to see Navi, the World’s number 1 Michael Jackson impersonator as Bedford Corn Exchange.
Being a bit of a Michael Jackson fan that has previously been to see the Thriller Live show in the West End, visited the Michael Jackson Official Exhibition at The O2 and having ownership of most of his albums and a few of his DVD’s, I was a little sceptical about how Navi would compare to the real Michael Jackson. Well, all I can say is, he was amazing. Navi looked, sounded and moved exactly like Michael Jackson and was clearly a tribute act that puts everything he has into being Michael Jackson.
Navi has been performing as an MJ impersonator for the past 24 years and is the only Michael Jackson tribute that Michael Jackson himself has applauded on several occasions, given a standing ovation to, invited to his home, Neverland and personally chosen to work as a decoy over a period of many years and I could totally see why.
Whereas some tribute acts use backing tracks to perform alongside I was pleasantly surprised to see Navi has his own band and his own dancers which put on an incredible show which really, really makes you want to get up out of your seat and Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground).
Navi, his band and his dancers all performed some of Michael Jackson’s top tracks, including:
Billie Jean
Beat It
Thriller
Bad
The Way You Make Me Feel
Man In The Mirror
Dirty Diana
Black or White
Earth Song
They Don’t Care About Us
Scream
In order not to forget where Michael Jackson started his career, Navi also performed a medley of Jackson 5 tracks which included I Want You Back and Can You Feel It, two of my all-time favourites.
In the auditorium I was sat next to a middle aged couple that had been to see Navi on several occasions and there was a group of teenage girls sat behind that had done the same and they all advised me that now I had seen Navi once, I would definitely want to see him again and I could not agree more.
Navi is a truly amazing performer and the show being called The Legend Continues is a truly apt name for it as Navi makes sure that for all Michael Jackson fans, the legend does continue. His entire performance complete with high kicks and moonwalking made such an impression on me I’m already looking to see him again in London during October.
Go and see the show yourself, you will not be disappointed.
