I was lucky enough to be asked to review the Orange Lavender Organic Body Balm and the Orange Ginger Organic Lip Balm from Dr Bronner’s and being a bit addicted to smellies, lotions and potions I was really excited. The first thing that appealed to me was the fact that the products are organic and also Lavender and Ginger are 2 of my favorite fragrances.

DrBronnerBodyOrange Lavender Organic Body Balm
I was intrigued by this product as it states you can use it anywhere and everywhere! It comes packaged in a tin with a unique slide lid which gives it a bit of a quirky look. The one thing I would say about the packaging is that it is brown, and therefore a little dull and not very eye-catching.

When I opened the tin the balm smells delicious, however I would say the fragrance is predominately lavender and I could not smell much of the orange. It feels quite greasy to the touch but once you rub it in, it soaks in and does not leave any greasy residue just makes your skin feel lovely and soft. I used it on my heels and elbows and after a couple of days could really see the effect on my skin which felt much softer. I also used it on my nails as cuticle oil and again the results were excellent. Being quite a small tin if you used it all over as a body lotion/butter it wouldn’t last very long.

DrBronnersLipOrganic Lip Balm Orange Ginger
At this time of year I start to suffer from really dry, chapped lips and therefore find it quite hard to find a decent lip balm (I have tried loads)!!!

Again the packaging is not very inspiring as it is brown again and just in the normal ‘chapstick’ form. However the fragrance again is fantastic really spicy and this time you can smell the ginger and orange. When I put it on it did feel quite thin and didn’t feel like it would soak in, but it tasted fantastic and not of ‘chemicals’ like many other lip products. It didn’t stay on my lips for very long though and I would have to say I would have liked it to be thicker and more of a ‘balm’ texture.

On its own I don’t think it would enough to keep my lips moisturized, however would be perfect to keep in my handbag and be applied fairly frequently.

To summarise both products smell fantastic and at the price if you are into organic products would say they are excellent value for money.  I will definitely keep both products in my handbag as they are the perfect size for when you are on the go. I would like to see them in slightly more eye catching packaging.

Rating: 4/5
