When the game of Scrabble Speed arrived, it was well packaged and on opening it was refreshing to find that there was not too mach packaging, the game was still well secured but it was not too difficult to remove. Also most of the packaging was recyclable.
Scrabble is a big favourite in our family. My eldest son loves playing it and trying to beat both his father and I. I liked the idea of this game, a twist on a classic board game.
The instructions for the game were concise and easy to follow. The game consists of a dispenser in which you put all of the letter tiles, each player presses the dispenser three times and it dispenses four tiles at a time. Each player receives twelve tiles in total and then you press start on the timer. The dispenser counts down sixty seconds in which time all the players have to find the best word that they can make with their letters. The aim is to use as many letters as you can. The scoring is much more simple than the classic game of scrabble no complications of a different score for each letter and it certainly makes it more exciting by the fact that you only have a minute to make your word. It is also definitely easier for children follow the game and add up the score (and probably younger children that the age of 10 as the game suggests).
It is an easy game to use, and it is fun to play. The dispenser is quite robust and relatively compact and could be taken away on holidays etc… It’s quite easy to have a quick game, just for a few minutes, which the board game of scrabble isn’t. I particularly like how all of the letter tiles can be stored in the dispenser is not being used.
The game is priced at £20, which I think represents good value for money. We have really enjoyed playing this as a family and recommend this game.
