The Vienna Festival Ballet comprise an energetic young troupe brought together in this small, traditional but intimate theatre venue to enchant you with their beautiful production of the timeless fairy tale, Cinderella.

As this classic story begins we find the lonely and tired Cinderella in the kitchen with her only friends, three mice and a cat, as she endures the taunts and frightful behaviour of her ugly step sisters. The acts that follow proceed to tell the tale of how a young girl meets and falls in love with her Prince but must prove she is worthy of his affection.

The delightful scenes are carefully put together, with painted backdrops and stunning costumes. The choreography whilst simple, and occasionally unpolished, was dynamic and refreshingly ‘sassy’ particularly when emphasising the comically outrageous behaviour of the sisters at the ball.

The venue itself is small but in truth it felt like we were being treated to a private performance, rather than an overwhelming stage show and for this reason it was delightful. The staff at the venue itself were friendly and courteous, particularly during the interval when both hot and cold drinks are available. There is not hot food served in this venue, but plenty of places to eat nearby including an Italian restaurant next door.

Overall a thoroughly enjoyable evening, a perfect surrounding for a fairy tale story to unfold.
