As lifelong Queen fans, my wife and I couldn’t wait to head to Lighthouse, Poole this evening to see the internationally acclaimed tribute act Killer Queen, in town for one night only as part of their UK Summer ’26 Tour. We weren’t disappointed, it was an outsanding show from start to finish.

From the moment Patrick Myers bounded onto the stage as Freddie Mercury, we knew we were in for something special. Wearing Freddie’s iconic yellow jacket, white vest and white trousers, and armed with his famous half‑mic stand, he was the closest thing you’ll get to seeing Freddie live today. The energy hit instantly, opening with One Vision, the band set the tone for the night. It was bold, powerful and undeniably Queen.

We were seated in the stalls with a perfect central view of the stage. The seats were comfortable, although we didn’t spend much time sitting. The audience were encouraged to get on their feet, clap along and dance to Queen’s extensive back catalogue of rock anthems, which created a brilliant atmosphere throughout the hall.

Killer Queen have been performing since 1993, and it shows. Their tribute captures the spirit, sound and spectacle of Queen with real precision. Patrick Myers nails Freddie’s mannerisms, energy and style with impressive accuracy. He’s a natural showman, and tonight’s performance felt like a genuine tribute to Freddie’s legacy.

The rest of the band were equally strong. Their Roger Taylor, John Deacon and Sir Brian May delivered exceptional musicianship, clearly the result of years of meticulous study of Queen’s live performances. The harmonies, guitar solos and overall stage presence were spot on, and it’s easy to see why Killer Queen are considered one of, if not, the top Queen tribute acts in the world.

We were treated to hit after hit including ‘I Want To Break Free’, ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’, ‘Radio Ga Ga’ amongst many more. There was only one song we didn’t immediately recognise, which just shows how deeply Queen’s music has infiltrated our lives. Considering some of these tracks are over 50 years old, it’s a testament to their timeless quality that they still stand the test of time.

It’s hard to pick a single standout moment because the whole show was excellent, but the encore was particularly spectacular. Three of our favourite Queen classics delivered with real style and absolutely worth the wait.

It was great to see some of Freddie’s iconic looks showcased throughout the performance too. Who could forget that impeccable style!

Our only minor criticism (and something we’ve noticed before at this venue) is that the acoustics in the Concert Hall can sometimes cause the music to overpower the vocals. We’d have liked the vocals to be a little clearer, but the performance was strong enough and the music so accurate that it didn’t take away from the experience.

We would recommend Killer Queen to anyone looking for a high energy, authentic tribute performance. We had a fantastic evening and would definitely book again. Tickets were £32.45, which is excellent value for a show of this quality, running just shy of two hours.
