Just in time for spring cleaning I received the SMOL essentials bundle. SMOL is an environmentally friendly sustainable brand offering cleaning products delivered direct to your home. I have seen advertisements SMOL many times and often wondered if it might be for me as I increasingly seek out products which are kinder to the planet. The SMOL website says ‘Climate change is the biggest single threat of our time. Add in plastic pollution, and our planet and population need help. Household cleaning brands have long been part of the problem. They drown our world in single-use plastic, pollute with production that puts profits over people, and batter biodiversity through ingredients that don’t biodegrade.
The essentials bundle pack contains:
Laundry Capsule 9 pods
Dishwasher Tablets 9 tablets
Multi purpose spray 1 bottle for life and 1 refill tablet
Foaming Hand wash 1 bottle for life and 1 refill tablet
All items are packaged in fully recyclable cardboard. The laundry capsules and dishwasher tablets are in child safe boxes and are ready for immediately use. The multi purpose spray and the foaming hand wash are in tablet form. To activate the tablet is simple, place it in the supplied bottle for life and dissolved in warm water prior to use.
I replaced my existing products with the SMOL ones immediately as I was keen to see if they lived up to expectations. SMOL say ‘We believe there is a better way to buy cleaning products. The laundry capsules have given good results when using on various types of clothing and wash programmes. I am very sensitive to smells, preferring a light scent rather than a heavy perfume smell. I am very pleased that these capsules have a very delicate fresh smell and my laundry looks and feels good following use.
The dishwasher tablets are much smaller than my usual brand, but they deliver excellent results across the 2 programmes I used regularly on my dishwasher. Crockery, cutlery, glassware and pans all come out clean and shiny with no discernible smell when opening the machine door. I have noticed that plastics don’t dry very well, but for me this is not something that would prevent me from using SMOL in the future.
The multi purpose spray is my new favourite cleaner. I have used it on kitchen surfaces and my hob and it leaves them clean and shiny. It is also great for a quick spritz on cupboard doors and drawer fronts to remove pesky sticky marks and fingerprints.
The foaming hand wash is a great alternative to liquid soap, particularly for children who can often over apply products. The pump dispenser gives the perfect amount of foam for each wash and unlike liquid soap doesn’t dribble.
SMOL offer a range of cleaning products in addition to the four I have tested, these include washing up liquid, floor cleaner, foaming bathroom spray, washing liquid, fabric softener and stain remover.
In conclusion I would say the SMOL products offer an environmentally sustainable alternative to High Street cleaning products with the advantage that they are delivered direct to your door.
