Orchard Toys has recently released ‘Troll in a Hole’; this game is colourful, fun to play and had the wee ones giggling as they collected their bugs to win the game. All the while they are secretly learning.
This educational fast paced 3D game is aimed at children aged 4 years and above; however, with adult supervision I believe that children of 3 can play and it will really help them learn different colours, counting and being part of family game time.
The object of the game is to help the King Troll to collect yukky stinky bugs to make his stew. Each player guides their chosen troll along the colourful swampy path. They need to dig for the revolting bug ingredients for the stew, with a chance to swap slime cards. Along the path you need to dodge hungry frogs, squelch your way through squidgy splatberries. Once reaching the centre your troll can jump into the hole. Once reaching the centre each player counts up the bugs to see who is the winner, being the one with the most bugs.
Then came the surprise a BONUS GAME! Totally awesome! This game is perfect for colour recognition. Using the spinner you move your troll as you race to fill the board with matching coloured slime cards.
I love the quality of this game; it is made from sturdy card and is extremely easy to put together. The brightness of the colours is attractive and the trolls are super cute.
With having two separate games to play it became pandemonium as it was ‘let’s play again’, when consented the mayhem begins again. Only for them screaming again, again, again. They wanted to play both games over and over again. As the weather was misbehaving it was fun to have a total afternoon playing Troll in a Hole with so much giggling, and no screen time.
Orchard Toys have a wide variety of different educational games. They have been around for over 50 years and own the title of ‘leading manufacturer of educational games and puzzles’ worldwide. What an accomplishment! Having looked at their website www.orchardtoys.com I was so amazed that if you lose instructions, or any pieces of your games or puzzles you are able to contact them to get replacements. I have never known a company to do this, especially as it is a free service.
Orchard Toys support a children’s charity, EACH (East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices). They support families during this rely stressful journey. So people, when requesting spare parts why not donate to this amazing charity.
I love that Orchard Toys as they constantly bring out new games and puzzles. Plus they have all the different characters that children love. They are my go to company to buy gifts for birthdays, Christmas and even Easter to keep away from chocolates and sweets.
Nothing beats family time away from television screens and phones. Often when friends come around, the weather is bad and the kids are saying they are bored. Whip out an Orchard Toys game or puzzle which brings such joy, laughter and special bonding time. But more than that, these are teaching tools as well; learning whilst having the greatest time is a win win situation.
