2025 is Jane Austen season! Throughout the country you’ll see performances travelling and performing Jane Austen classics in either their traditional or alternative formats. Therefore I’m so excited that this new 250th anniversary stage production is hitting the Lighthouse stage. This adaptation, devised by Ryan Craig is heading to the south coast from Monday 10 until 15 November. I’m equally excited having seen Ryan Craig’s past production of 1984 which played Lighthouse in 2024 (it was fantastic!)
India Shaw-Smith takes to the stage as the high spirited Emma Woodhouse who is determined that she will never marry and resorts to meddling in her friends and neighbours’ relationships.
The beautiful, high-spirited Emma Woodhouse is determined that she will never marry but loves to meddle in her friends’ and neighbours’ relationships. When her confidante and former governess, Miss Taylor weds her fiancé Mr Weston, Emma, having introduced the couple, takes credit for the marriage and decides that a future in matchmaking lies ahead of her. Love lives and matchmaker become entangled and more complex; will Emma actually find love? I can’t wait to watch to find out!
I love a good period Jane Austen drama… amazing costumes, elegance, dances, scandal and being transported to a different time.
Emma is at Lighthouse for a 6-day run with matinees available. Tickets prices started from £20.00. Find out what’s on at Lighthouse Poole https://www.lighthousepoole.co.uk/event/emma/ or call the Box Office on 01202 280000
