SockShop Heat Holders Thermal Socks Review

Reviewed by David Savage
I was very delighted to receive a pair of the SockShop Heat Holders: The Ultimate Thermal Sock to review. I am very pleased to say that they certainly live up to their name.
The Heat Holders socks are very thick with a heavy bulk yarn, long pile cushion, a brushed inside and a massive 2.34 tog rating giving you maximum warmth (the average cotton sock has a 0.40 tog rating which gives the minimum amount of warmth, the average thermal sock has a 1.50 tog rating which gives a medium amount of warmth).
The Heat Holders are available for men, women and children in a variety of styles and colours.
The socks are very comfortable to wear and as they are so thick feels like you are walking on a thick carpet. The brushed inside is very soft and at first I found strange to get used to but these feeling soon disappeared. The intense brushing process has been designed to hold warm air close to the skin so keeping your feet warmer or longer.
They really do keep your feet warm too and would be great as for cold days at home, or be great with wellies. The only slight drawback is if you wanted to wear them outside you may need a bigger size of shoe or boot to accommodate the thickness, but I did wear them with my steel cap work boots and once I get the boots on the boot fit very snuggly but not enough to make them uncomfortable. As a sock to wear about the house or in bed on the chillier days they are absolutely perfect.
I have washed these a few times now and they have still kept their shape and colour.
My mum suffers from Raynaud’s Phenomenon, which affects blood supply to her toes and feet so her feet are always cold when sitting at home, and the SockShop Heat Holders will be perfect to help with that condition so I have already ordered her a pair to try out.
Overall these are a great, thick, comfortable and extremely warm pair of socks that are perfect for keeping your feet warm around the house or outside in a pair of wellies or boots (your boots may have to be a slightly larger size than you using buy). My feet will never be cold again during the cold winter months or the chilly spring mornings.
