My little boy absolutely loves all things volcanoes, he talks about them and has done school projects on them, so he was absolutely delighted to have a game to play that was based on a volcano, with the added pull of dinosaurs too!
The package arrived so quickly and was very well packaged. It was cleverly packaged with all the pieces neatly folded into the box. This meant that a smaller box could be used therefore reducing the packaging. The box included, two pieces of volcano, an additional volcano piece, a volcano platform to rest the volcano on, eight dinosaur figures with stands, a spinner and some lava pieces. I felt that there was a bit too much packaging used in the box. There was a small clear plastic window in the top left hand corner of the box where the dinosaur figures could be visible. The problem with the plastic used, was that it was too thick so it didn’t really allow you to see much detail of the dinosaur figures. I understand what was trying to be achieved, but it didn’t really work. I had to grab some scissors to cut the dinosaurs out of the packaging but the rest of it was easy to get out.

Assembly is easy and there no need to put any stickers on which we all know is a “win win” for parents on Christmas Day or Boxing Day! The two volcano pieces slot really easily together, with two red posts clearly visible. You just line the red posts up with the holes, push together and twist. I did have trouble removing the volcano halves to pack it away but I’m hoping it becomes easier with time. The dinosaurs slot easily into their little black stands, but just don’t do what I did and put them upside down. I thought the Jurassic World Shaky Volcano Game was just really difficult as the dinosaurs weren’t sitting flush in the slots… I then realised my error and the game became a tiny bit easier.

If your are a fan of volcanoes, you probably know all about lava. One improvement I would make would be move lava. When you overbalance, and the volcano shakes and wobbles like mad so it would have been great to have more lava rocks flying around when the volcano erupts away.
Once the small amount of assembly has been done, you are ready to go. The instructions in the box were miniature so I had to take a picture of them to zoom in, however, there were pictorials for the assembly for you to follow. But here’s how you play. You spin the spinner and it tells you which dinosaur to place on the volcano. The aim is to move your dinosaur on to the very wobbly volcano without it erupting. The best part is when you land on the Jurassic World symbol. This is where you have to put ALL remaining dinosaurs on the volcano, or if they are already on, you have to remove them all. I can honestly say we laughed so much with this game! The volcano is constantly wobbling due to its curved base and you have to be so delicate with your dinosaur placement.

I think this would make an excellent Christmas gift. I haven’t heard of this game before but it would definitely be something that I would buy for my little boy. I can imagine it Christmas Day, after opening presents lining this game up, ripping the packaging off and setting it up to play. If you love volcanoes, love dinosaurs and like laughing when dinosaurs get thrown off their volcano mountain, then this is the game for you!
