“BuggyBoard Mini provides security for your child in crowds and high traffic areas. When your child is too tired to walk, or when you are in a hurry, the BuggyBoard Mini makes it easy for both of you.”
As the saying goes, the BuggyBoard Mini really does do what it says on the tin! Although I have only been using it for a short time, I am already a convert and it is one of the most useful pieces of children’s equipment we have got. It is advertised as a buggy board that will fit just about any pram or buggy (apparently over 250 pushchairs) and our Bugaboo gecko (an older version of the Bugaboo) is no exception. Although the mini version is advertised as making it perfect for umbrella fold type strollers and those with a narrow frame, it works perfectly well with our buggy and I prefer the compact design.
The product comes in attractive packaging with a detailed instructions manual in various languages. The box includes various connectors and extender connectors so that you can choose the most suitable one for the frame of your buggy. The back of the box also provides a simple guide on how to attach the board.
The first day we attached and used the board, we were in a hurry so I took the still packaged board with us to the boat show not really thinking we’d actually be able to use it that day. However, my husband attached the board within about 10 minutes while we had coffee and whilst he said it was a little tricky, once attached it worked perfectly. I have now had a look at the website as I wanted to see how the board could be folded up when not in use, and the website has a very clear step by step video guide on how to attach the board.
It was an instant hit with our 4 year old daughter who absolutely loves riding on it. I just wish I had got one sooner as it is suitable for children from 2 to 5 years of age or a maximum of 20 kg (44 Ibs) and it would have been even more useful when our daughter was younger. It proved ideal for a day spent at a busy show where it was very reassuring to have both my children close at hand in the crowds. My eldest was able to hop on and off depending on whether she was tired and it meant we were able to stay the whole day. A few weeks on and it is still a novelty with her and has proved invaluable to me when we are rushing somewhere. It is surprising agile even on uneven surfaces and up and down pavements remaining stable and secure. My daughter finds it comfortable and although initially it did take a bit of getting used to walking with the buggy board at my feet as I felt I was going to kick it, I have now got used to walking with it without even thinking. The actual board clips on and off very easily which means that I don’t need to take it with me if we are not going to use it or alternatively there is a clip which means the board can be folded up when I’m out and have dropped my daughter at school.
In summary, I am a big fan of the BuggyBoard mini and would definitely recommend it – not only does it makes life much easier especially when time is short or you are out and about and your eldest gets tired, but you’ll find that it gives you piece of mind when you are in crowded places. In my view, it provides value for money and is a must-have for those with a second child between 2 and 5 years of age.
