I have a teenager daughter and 7-year-old twins. One of my twins in particular can tend to need a lot of encouragement to engage and focus on activities. Board games, such as this one, Yeti In My Spaghetti from Interplay UK and University Games, which look fun and exciting are therefore very much welcomed in our household. The game arrived quickly, which was great as I was really looking forward to trying it out. It was well packed and therefore arrived in perfect condition.
The game itself is for 2 or more players aged 4 and up. The box contains the following:
- 30 noodles
I loved the fact that no batteries are required, no beeps or flashing lights, just simple and basic. I couldn’t wait to get started. The pieces can be easily removed from the box and placed the bowl on the table, then carefully laid out the 30 noodles on top of the bowl. Each person then takes a turn to remove one noodle from the bowl, waiting in anticipation to see if the yeti stayed put on top of the noodles or fell into the bowl. If and when it falls into the bowl, that player is the loser.
I noticed how good this game is for developing/improving children’s’ fine motor skills. This game is hilarious. My favourite part of the game is when the yeti falls into the bowl, or rather watching another player lose the game when the yeti falls.
This game has hours of play value and is such good quality that I think it could be passed onto another child in the future. That said, I am not sure I want to part with it. I know that they will love playing it when their grandparents visit. It truly is suitable for such a wide range of ages. The game itself is so simple and the instructions easy to follow. I love the fact that the yeti is poking out of the box. I think it was an excellent design idea as people can easily see what they are buying. The yeti looks adorable.
Something I have discovered is what a mischief the yeti is. It is great fun to think up mischievous acts for the Yeti to do. I think that the Yeti has plenty up his or her sleeves for the future.
I took the opportunity to have a good look at the Interplay UK website. They have so many fantastic children’s games and family games available.
I think this game is great for cutting down on screen time and getting back to basics. After all, one of the fondest memories I have of growing up was the board games we played as a family. This game is great fun and would make an excellent Christmas Gift idea for children. I can see this game being part of my sons’ toy collection for many years to come. I love the simplicity of this game.
Update 4/8/20 – This game has become a firm favourite in our household. One of my twins in particular loves playing it with me. I think that the wavy spaghetti, ie. that it is not straight, really adds to the fun. We play this game over and over and over again and enjoy it just as much every time.
