4D Golf
Castleford, Yorkshire

Myself and my husband took our 5 children aged 3, 3, 4, 6 & 8 to the 4D golf at Xscape in Castleford. Although I’m rubbish at mini golf I really enjoy playing it with the children – especially the eldest 2 who get quite competitive.
We went in around 12pm, the staff on the reception desk were lovely and asked us which course we would like – there is a 6 hole course (search for Atlantis) and a 9 hole course (Curse of the Mummy), I asked her what she thought would be best and she said the 6 hole would probably be most suitable as it’s not as intimidating looking as the 9 hole course and is shorter so would be better for the youngest ones. She passed us our glasses, scorecards & pencils and let us all pick which colour golf ball we would like.
When we got into the course it was quite dark but the golf clubs were really easy to find – they had different sized clubs for adults and children. The whole theme of the course is fish and underwater – the effects inside are brilliant, the floors are uneven which adds to the fun but they are lit with arrows where the floor rises or dips – the children said it was “ace”. Each mini course is lit up and it’s really clear where the ball has to go. Having 5 children with us we didn’t play by the rules and made up our own game with little bits of cheating here and there (obviously by the children not me as I’m NEVER dream of cheating hehehehe). Every time somebody got their ball in the hole there was flashing like lightning or a voice over which the children laughed at each time.
We were in there for around 25 minutes in total which would have lasted a bit longer if we had played properly and the children hadn’t been in a mad dash to get onto the next hole.
I would definitely go back to the 4D golf as its really fun and really good value, although I would possibly do it as a birthday treat/party for my eldest 2 children or wait and take the youngest ones back in a year or 2 when they understand it more.
Prices start from £9.99 per family (2 adults and 2 children under 12) or from £2.99 as an individual.
