As a family coming out of lockdown that has maybe eaten a bit too much and not moved enough, we had decided that we needed to get healthy and up our fitness levels, but our 10 year old has spent a lot of lockdown on his playstation and wasn’t really interested in joining in. So we needed something that would get him moving about and this watch was our something. It’s a fitness tracker but with the lots of added features including earning badges and even coins from moving about to use on the app. Now this had our little gamer interested
So let me tell me a bit about the watch. The watch itself is quite big and bulky for a small wrist but our son seemed to like it. It comes with a changeable plastic strap, that is available in 4 different colours: black, green, blue and pink. We choose the green one. Also in the box is a tiny screwdriver for the sim card cover, a replacement screw for the sim card cover, sim card remover tool, magnetic charger for watch but no plug which is the normal nowadays. To use the smartwatch to its full potential, you need to download the Xplora app on your phone. This was easy to do and simple to pair the watch up with my phone.

The XGO2 has all the features you would expect of a smartwatch. It has a clock, stopwatch, calendar calculator and recorder. You can also change the background theme on it in settings. But it also has a couple of features we weren’t expecting. Its got a side flash light which our son loved. It can make and receive calls and messages but I will go into this in further detail later. It also has a 0.3 pixel camera which isn’t the best nowadays but is more than adequate for a child who wants to take selfies or photos. The icons are nice and big and easy to navigate. We wanted the smartwatch mainly so our child could track his steps and activity levels and so he could see how many steps a day he was doing and the watch is great for this and also the dashboard on the app.
So, lets get back to the call and messaging features on this smartwatch. To use this feature, you have to purchase a sim card and data, so not for everyone. But this was a big appeal to us but also a big worry. Like any parent nowadays, we worry about who is online and I didn’t want just anyone being able to call or message my child. I didn’t need to worry though, as this smartwatch has some fantastic security features. Your child can make and receive calls and also send and receive messages but only from pre approved contacts that you set up on the connecting app. I thought this was a great feature. You can have up to 50 contacts on the app.
Another great feature that you can set up on the app is school mode. So basically you can restrict use of the smartwatch, to only be a watch during the hours of school. This is a great idea, to stop your child messing about with it during lessons.
The watch also has GPS tracking on it, so you can see your child’s location. You can even set up safe zones like home or school. The app will then inform you if the smartwatch moves out of that area.
All in all, this is a superb smartwatch, you wont be disappointed with and your child will love it.
