Winter Wonderland at Event City in Manchester caught my attention recently on Facebook and I was delighted to be asked to attend the press evening.

I went along with a good friend of mine and her daughter and my own daughter.

Upon arrival we were greeted warmly by a member of staff who pointed in the right direction of the sign in stalls. Signing in was well thought out and each stall had a different section of the alphabet so this meant less queues!

Once we were let in we made our way to the entrance and all enjoyed being snowed on!

Once inside we were met with lots of bright lights, live music and delicious smelling food stalls.

We went on a few rides near the entrance and at times found people’s ability to queue fairly very poor sadly. A lot of people were queue jumping as there seemed to be no designated queues and staff didn’t seem to notice people pushing in as they were busy.

I am glad to say though as the evening went on and we explored the venue more we found quieter areas with queue lines meaning everyone had a turn fairly.

The amount of rides is quite amazing and there is so much to see and do from the usual fairground games like hook a duck to smaller rides for young ones and larger rides for older people.

We spotted the Sooty show but our girls were so busy enjoying the rides that we missed it and we also missed visiting Father Christmas and the circus.

The girls didn’t seem to mind though as they were having such a wonderful time on each ride.

After a couple of hours we sat down to eat and found the food to be fairly priced for a big attraction like this. Although one minor complaint would be for slightly more seating as every table was full do we ended up sat on the floor.

I did expect the inside to look like a winter wonderland and had high hopes after seeing the snow at the entrance but it seemed a bit hit and miss in areas and I personally thought some of the areas could have been made to feel a little more festive.

Small complaints aside we had a great evening filled with laughter and squeals of delight from the girls and considering each session lasts 4 hours it is well worth the entry fee for the rides and shows alone.

I spotted some stalls selling sweets, hair accessories etc. as we walked along and found the prices to be very good for the merchandise offered.

Overall we had a brilliant night and all went home very tired and the children smiling which is worth every penny.

Well done Winter Wonderland for a great attraction which will no doubt be popular over the festive period.
