Portable and compact, the 1600W Pressure Washer from VonHaus packs a punch for your outdoor spring cleaning needs.
Whether you’re cleaning your car, your decking or your patio, the pressure washer is the go-to piece of equipment for slicing through the dirt and making quick work of messy jobs. At the time of writing, VonHaus offers two different pressure washers – a 1600W version and a 2200W version. This review focuses on the 1600W version.
Straight out of the box, the unit and its attachments feel substantial and good quality. No flimsiness here! There’s some simple assembly required to put the pressure washer together (including attaching the carry handle and connecting the spray gun), but it’s pretty intuitive how it fits together and there are also handy instructions with useful illustrations.
It’s important to read those instructions, as there’s lots of safety information contained within them. My only slight complaint is that the generic ‘power tool’ instructions at the start of the booklet contradict the detailed pressure washer instructions later on – the earlier ones state that the tool shouldn’t be used outside, when that’s precisely what a pressure washer is intended for. But that’s a minor matter which is outweighed by the performance of the washer.
Once you’ve turned the power on, you can easily adapt the spray pattern from a ‘full fan’ spray to a powerful ‘direct stream’ spray, thanks to the adjustable nozzle. The full fan spray made quick work of the dirt patches on our patio, while the direct stream was able to shift the green mould that had started growing in places. You could definitely see where the pressure washer had been used!
The pressure washer comes with a jet foam detergent bottle which can easily be attached if you want to give your car or deck that extra clean finish, but for basic outdoor blasting we found it did a great job with plain water.
It comes with a very generous power cable length and a long length of hose (both 5m), which is perfect for reaching awkward places and means you don’t have to worry too much about where the nearest plug is. The carry handle and wheels make it easy to manoeuvre and store, whilst weighing in at 5.6kg means it’s also easy to lift.
Pressure washers aren’t necessarily designed to be beautiful, but this one looks better than many of the boxy designs I’ve seen from other brands. The flashes of orange even add a welcome touch of brightness to cheer you on your spring clean. Who says you can’t clean and have fun at the same time?!
The washer was slightly noisier than a model we’ve used previously, but it did a great job, is easy to store and use, and is particularly good value at this price point. I was also impressed by the additional information VonHaus provide on their website about how to choose a pressure washer, and how to set one up. All in all, the VonHaus 1600W pressure washer is a great way to kick start your spring cleaning.
