Vax Blade 2 MAX 40v Vacuum Cleaner Review

Reviewed by Debbie Talbot

I am a busy mum of 3 who works part time as well as studying part time. When it comes to doing household chores I like to be as efficient as possible. Both of my vacuum cleaners became unusable within the same month, so I was both relieved and excited to be offered a Vax Blade 2 MAX to review. The Vax Blade 2 MAX is a powerful cordless upright stick vacuum cleaner.

The product arrived quickly in perfect condition. I was delighted that I was also sent a free tool kit worth £50 which contains a flexible crevice tool, tough dirt tool, textile tool, stretch hose and storage bag.

The main Blade2 Max box contains:

  • Blade2 Max
  • Wall Mount
  • Dusting Brush and Tool Caddy
  • Crevice Tool
  • Charger
  • Instruction Booklet

The instruction booklet is easy to follow and very informative. I managed to achieve a full charge in around 3 hours. The battery power indicator is easy to figure out. I could not wait to try out the vacuum cleaner. I had bits of food strewn all over my living room and kitchen floor after one of the kids had been eating. I was a bit apprehensive how the Blade 2 MAX would deal with this situation.  I needn’t have worried as it made such light work of the task. The suction power is better than any vacuum I have ever owned.

Cleaning the stairs is an absolute breeze. The product’s design makes it perfect for this usually challenging task. My sofa seems to spend its life covered in crumbs and bits of food from my twin sons. Being able to use the vacuum cleaner as a handheld device is a game changer. It does a fantastic job of vacuuming up pet hair and I would imagine that it would be great for using to clean your car or van.

The whole vacuum cleaner is so lightweight (3.1kg) and therefore a doddle to use.

I have tiles in my kitchen but carpet in my living room. Performance was great in both rooms. I have had some vacuum cleaners which do not pick up debris as well on hard flooring. I love being able to change the tool used on the end of the Blade 2 MAX and use it to clean shelving and ceilings.

Emptying the removable bin is a quick and easy process. I love how hygienic this is and the fact that you save on the cost of buying vacuum bags, or the dilemma when you have not managed to buy replacement bags and your vacuum cleaner bag is full.

The vacuum runs off of a lithium-ion battery for around 45 minutes (depending on what settings you are using, i.e. power boost). This is enough time to vacuum all rooms in my 3 bedroom home. I then pop it on charge ready for next use.

The Vax website tells me that the new brushless DC motor rotates 70,000 times per minute.  No wonder the performance is so good.

One of my vacuum cleaners which recently broke only lasted around a year. I can see the Vax Blade 2 MAX lasting for years to come. I love the design of the floorhead both in terms of how it looks and its functionality.

I think that this product would make a fantastic Christmas gift for someone in your life who likes practical presents. I would be delighted if I received one myself. Vax, you have worked wonders again.
