The story and music of Michael Jackson (MJ) with the Jackson 5 and Motown is brought to the stage in Thriller Live and I was privileged to visit the Waterside Theatre in Aylesbury to see this wonderful show.
The show tells a brief outline of Michael Jackson, the Jackson 5 and Motown but it’s really all about the 40 years of wonderful music starting with ‘I Want You Back’, ‘Blame It On The Boogie’, ‘Shake Your Body’, ‘Dangerous’, ‘Off the Wall’ and even more great classics in the 1st act.
The singing and dancing was fantastic and the lead roles Sean Christopher and Cleopatra Higgins sounded and looked really good. The MJ dance moves had everyone out of their seats dancing and cheering especially during ‘Billie Jean’. My favourite dancer was Chloe Ferns, she owned that stage.
The 2nd act had even more energy if that’s possible with ‘Beat It’, ‘The Way You Make Me Feel’, ‘Smooth Criminal’, ‘Dirty Diana’, ‘They Don’t Care About Us’ and of course ‘Thriller’.
The costumes where really funky and in the style of MJ (the glove was there) and watching the moonwalk was one of my highlights. The band totally rocked the place and the creative team put a great twist on things. Lights and fireworks added to a great show and I would happily go again.
The Aylesbury Waterside Theatre is a lovely new modern theatre nice and clean with friendly staff and a great cafe /bar and definitely worth a visit and is a great place to see a show.
I’d rate this show a 5/5 and I’m sure all fans of MJ would love it too.
Tickets cost from £20.40 to £31.90 (plus £2.85 transaction fee).
