This was my first time at the Alhambra Theatre in Bradford. The venue was fairly easy to find and sign posted once I reached the City Centre. I parked in the NCP Southgate which was just a few minutes’ walk from the theatre. The theatre is visually stunning inside and out. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were seated in row K which had an excellent view of the stage and there was plenty of leg room once seated.

Not being the biggest Michael Jackson (MJ) fan I wasn’t sure what to expect but was very pleasantly surprised. I was shocked at how many Michael Jackson songs I knew and was soon singing along to! The show is a nonstop singing, dancing and visual tribute to all Jackson’s hits from his beginning with the Jackson 5 through all his solo albums.

There were four lead singers, a clever mixture of three boys and a girl, who gave fantastic renditions and performances of some of MJ’s biggest hits. They soon got the audience clapping, foot tapping and singing along. The songs spanned MJ’s career and were a mixture of rock, pop and disco. The singers were backed up by a fantastic set of dancers and a live band. There was a “Michael Jackson” who appeared intermittently throughout the show to recreate some of MJ’s iconic dance moves and routines which were still amazing to watch. The choreography throughout was amazing and the cast very enthusiastic which created an amazing atmosphere in the theatre. The cast engaged the audience throughout and encouraged them to take part in several parts of the show all leading up to an amazing finale which had the whole audience up on their feet clapping and dancing to the final three songs.

I would highly recommend this show to MJ and non MJ fans alike. It would appeal to all ages and would be enjoyed by families, couple or groups.
