The World of David Walliams Book Set Review

A set of 4 children’s novels from David Walliams, also known for being an actor and co-writer, responsible for the award winning comedy series Little Britain. David is also a Sport Relief swim Champion.

From what we know about David Walliams, one would not expect him to write successful books for children. But I guess the secret is that he is a big kid himself. My son is 7 and would normally prefer illustrations on every page, after just a few pages he was hooked and realised he doesn’t need pictures with any of the David Walliams books. The stories are all so fabulously descriptive that he has become enthralled in each story straight away. He absolutely loves them all, especially Gangsta Granny which he is now reading again and still gets excited even though he knows what’s coming.

There is also a moving message within the books too, without giving anything away; there is a subtle yet lovely message behind the stories, suggesting valuable lessons in life.

This is certainly a great gift for any child, and even younger children will enjoy being read to – and as a parent you will never be bored reading this! I hope David continues to write for children, it is a superb talent he has.

This would make an ideal Christmas present.
