The Floating Admiral by Agatha Christie, Dorothy L Sayers and others Review

Reviewed by Brian Grehan

This original story was written collaboratively by The Detection Club in 1931. Featuring brilliant detective writers such as Agatha Christie and Dorothy L Sayers each of the writers wrote a chapter each. This concept was original as each writer had to move the story along in their own style without disrupting the story.

Set in the sleepy seaside town of Whynmouth, Inspector Rudge must solve riddle of the corpse found in a rowing boat. The investigation is hampered by several obstacles. The vicar who owns the rowing boat is obviously not divulging all that he knows and the victim’s identity is called into doubt.

Each author had to write each chapter with a definite outcome in mind but had not to introduce any new complications for the next author to pick up and unravel. Highly recommend this book to any fans of who-dunnits and fans of the authors concerned.
