Fancy something different? How about a Wednesday night orchestra? But this one is very different! The Terje Isungset Ice Quartet are led by the ice music pioneer, Terje Isungset and they are set to make his Poole debut when he plays Lighthouse on Wednesday 19 November with his exquisite quartet.
This unique quartet features voice, ice harp, ice horn, iceophone, ice percussion and ice bass, this ice concert is a tribute to the most important thing in the whole world – nature – and is based on music from Terje’s albums Winter Songs and Beauty of Winter, alongside newer material from the Ice Quartet album released a year ago.
Composer and percussionist, Terje Isungset is one of Europe’s most accomplished and innovative percussionists and a pioneer of ice instruments. He performed the world’s first ice music concert inside a frozen waterfall in Lillehammer, Norway on 11 February 2000.
This quartet is made up of the following musicians and their instruments, Terje Isungset playing the ice drums, ice percussion, ice horns and iceofone (can’t wait to see and hear that instrument!), Amalie Holt Kleive on vocals, ice percussion and water Julie Rokseth is in charge of the ice harp and Toivo Fjose on the ice bass. As a former cellist I’m excited to see such a large instrument made out of ice!
So if you’re looking for something a little bit different and are looking for a symphony of shivers or a concerto in Brrrr major, this may just be the one for you!
Tickets start from £22 and are on general sale https://www.lighthousepoole.co.uk/event/terje-isungset-ice-quartet/or by calling the Box Office on 01202 280000.
