Me and my guest went to see The Simon and Garfunkel Story at the Camberley Theatre in Surrey. With the award winning actor Dean Elliot, who played Buddy Holly in Buddy the Musical, this was by far much better than I could have imagined. It told the compelling story of Paul and Art (Simon and Garfunkel) from the very beginning when they were just teenagers known as Tom and Jerry. There are original photos showing throughout the show and some film footage that helps tell the story of their highs and lows.
With a full live band they sound so authentic it’s uncanny. They play all the well-known Simon and Garfunkel songs like Cecilia, Mrs Robinson, Homeward Bound and the on the one that everybody knows Bridge Over Troubled Water.
Everyone in the theatre were clapping and toe tapping and really enjoying the performance. I felt they really gave a great performance that was well worth every penny. The theatre was fairly small so wherever you sat you had a great view of the stage and with helpful and friendly staff it’s a great place to visit, it has parking directly behind the theatre that’s cheap to park in.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone. If you can get tickets to see it at a theatre near you then book your tickets now, you won’t be disappointed.
A great night of music.
