On the 17th and 18th January next year, Poole Lighthouse is welcoming a festive production of The Nutcracker, which promises to enchant audiences of all ages. It is being performed by the Mergaliyev Classical Ballet, directed by Yassaui and Sophie Mergaliye, performing alongside a live orchestra that will be playing Tchaikovsky’s amazing score. I can’t wait to hear the Sugar Plum Fairy and Waltz of the Flowers, and I’m sure my daughter will love seeing this ballet for the first time having only seen Swan Lake before. It’s the kind of magical experience that’s even better when shared!

The story unfolds on Christmas Eve, where young Clara is gifted a Nutcracker doll who comes to life, and she is swept into a magical world of toy soldiers, battling mice, and beautiful snowflakes. With the help of the mysterious magician Drosselmeyer, Clara embarks on a journey to break a spell and save the Nutcracker Prince.

Poole Lighthouse is the perfect setting for this ballet, with easy transport access, comfortable seats, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Whether you’re a seasoned ballet lover or introducing your children to ballet like I am, The Nutcracker at Poole Lighthouse is sure to be a heart warming celebration of wonder, courage, and holiday spirit. It certainly makes me feel festive and with tickets starting at £29.50, it’s a night not to be missed!
