Glencroft Countrywear British Wool Tarbert Fishing Jumper Review

A warm cornflower blue British Wool jumper with a roll neck collar and unique waffle and cable pattern.

This lovely cornflower blue Glencroft knitwear product is a stylish, unisex jumper that can be worn by both men and women. The image on the website is slightly lighter in colour, the item in real life is a darker dreamy colour. The user-friendly website states that Glencroft was established in 1987 by Richard and Justina Sexton as a range of classic British country wear made from natural fibres including British Wool, Harris Tweed and sheepskin. In addition to the Guernsey and their roll neck Aran jumpers, they also drew inspiration from great fishing jumpers. Now, I feel it’s important to mention that my husband isn’t normally a fan of jumpers. He mainly wears football hoodies or football shirts when he isn’t in suits and formal shirts for work. He was reluctant to try it at first but has since altered his thoughts!! It was interesting to see his opinion of jumpers change over a few days– he finds this one particularly comfortable and favours it over his hoodies. He does prefer to wear it with a plain white t-shirt underneath for comfort but this also provides another layer of warmth. The entire range is made in the UK from the highest quality real wool which gives them that luxurious feel you want during the cold months. But due to the natural breathability of wool, all of our timeless jumper and cardigans styles can be worn comfortably all year round.

It is recommended that you wear this jumper over a shirt or add a jacket to keep warm on extremely cold days. It is a reasonably tight knit jumper but still super comfortable and not hard at all. It very much keeps you warm and cosy. In addition to its weight, each jumper is made of approximately 800g of high-quality wool so it’s surprisingly heavy but this adds to the warmth. You’ll be as snug in your jumper as you’d be if it were a sheep’s fleece.

100% British Wool is an amazing natural material. Sheep are sourced from farms across the country, so they are a local product. A sustainable super material, wool is a by-product of the meat industry, completely biodegradable at the end of its life, and does not release plastic fibres when washed. Although it does wash easily and dries rather quickly, it doesn’t need to be washed as often due to its antibacterial properties and, as it is breathable, it keeps you warm despite the weather changing. The product is available in five different sizes ranging from Small to XX Large.

Rating: My husband and I rate this item as 5 out of 5 for quality and comfort. It makes a stunning gift for any adult who appreciates quality in clothing and would be a brilliant Father’s day gift for that special man in your life.
