For one night only Thank Abba For The Music tribute band was at Lighthouse Poole as part of a tour.
My daughter and I were very excited to get tickets for this, as we are massive Abba fans and have seen various tribute acts.
We arrived at the lighthouse early so we could get drinks before the show. The show took place in the Concert Hall tonight and we had seats in the stalls, as this is a tiered venue wherever you sit there is a good view of the stage and plenty of dancing space in the rows and down the aisles.
The show started with an interactive video projection taking us back and reminding us about the success of ABBA, listening to ABBA interviews from music experts and celebrities talking about their career and became global sensations in the 1970s. This interactive screen was used throughout the performance and showed the songs being performed behind them back in the day it was very cleverly done.
The first act was slow with hits that were not so well known by the audience, but this didn’t stop them interacting with the audience and getting them involved, they were regularly testing our singing skills and getting us to sing along. They even got us to play name that tune which ended up with us all singing, which was great fun. By the end of the first act the audience were up on their feet at time and swaying and clapping along ready for the second half when they would perform all the well known songs and more, having performed a few to get us ready.
Act 2 was phenomenal and had the audience interacting and singing along throughout, it was a fantastic atmosphere. The girls’ vocals and harmonies throughout with each other and with Bjorn and Benny were superb with trademarks to ABBA. Agnetha sung by Katiee and Frieda sung by Amanda worked beautifully together and the likeness to ABBA was incredible. The costumes which replicated each song. Light touches of Swedish humour and audience participation made the evening.
The band was brilliant and played along with them as well as Benny played by Nick on keyboard and Bjorn played by Connor on Guitar.
By the end of the show everyone was up dancing and singing along. Definitely the best ABBA tribute band I have seen.
Expect an incredible night singing and dancing to all ABBA’S greatest hits including Dancing Queen, Mamma Mia, Super Trouper, Gimme! Gimme, SoS, Take A Chance one Me, Waterloo, Voulez-Vous and many more
Ticket prices start from £20 going up to £33 they are currently on tour across the UK. Tickets can be purchased from www.thankabbaforthemusic.co.uk or on the theatre websites where they are playing.
