Gifts can come in all shapes and sizes (and, of course, value). A thoughtful gift can be a loving keepsake. But often, a practical gift is the order of the day. That’s the case with this charming Catherine Lansfield Textured Branded Double Duvet Cover Set.

I recently received an opportunity to review this set, supplied by Terry’s Fabrics.

Take a good look at Terry’s user-friendly website at www.terrysfabrics.co.uk where you can see the comprehensive range of household fabric products they stock. Terrys can supply everything to make your home look beautiful. Their massive selection includes fabrics (sold by the metre), cushions, blinds, bedding, towels, kitchen and bathroom accessories, and curtain poles and tracks. Everything is incredibly priced, with many items heavily discounted. You’ll find inspiration in their buyer’s guides, blogs and useful links to measuring guides, etc. Make sure to look in the ‘Clearance’ section. I spotted some items at an incredible 75% discount.

Unfortunately, finding these kinds of item on the high street is becoming increasingly difficult. So, discovering such a brilliant, specialised store (based in Staffordshire) with a strong online presence is something of a revelation.

Catherine Lansfield is an international brand of high quality textile items, with very competitive prices.

The double duvet set I received contained the cover itself (200cm x 200cm) and a pair of pillowcases (50 x 75cm). The material used is 52% Polyester and 48% cotton.

The packaging was surprisingly small, but effective. I initially worried it was the wrong size, but I was happily mistaken. I put it through a quick wash cycle, something recommended on the instructions (as fully expected, the product didn’t show any signs of shrinkage).

After washing, the material became very soft and comfortable. Fitting it into the duvet was straightforward (or, if you’re anything like me, as straightforward as these things can get – you might have guessed, it’s not my favourite task). The cover is fitted in place with large opaque buttons. I found these much easier to use, with my sausage-fingers, than the pesky poppers, or tiny buttons on some of our existing duvet sets.

Once fitted, the duvet set looked and felt fantastic, far more luxurious than the price implied. Both the duvet cover and the pillowcases are reversible. One side being vertical, narrow blue and white stripes. The other side being a repeating horizontal pattern of wide blue, narrow white, narrow blue, narrow white, and wide grey/beige bands.

the fabric is not too heavy, so it didn’t add too much thickness, or unwanted warmth to our summer duvet.

I was thoroughly impressed and fully satisfied with the product.

For anyone wanting to refresh their home, or anyone equipping a new home with textiles, I wouldn’t hesitate to point them in the direction of Terrys.

Rating: A well deserved 5/5 for quality, and outstanding value for money.
